How it rates

A well-heeled commuter town in southern Surrey close to the border with Hampshire and West Sussex. It is very popular with families leaving London in search of good schools and a country location with easy access to the City. The earliest records of this rotten borough date back to 1221. It was granted charters by Richard II and Elizabeth I — something celebrated every other year with a Charter fair. Haslemere is about 12 miles from Guildford and surrounded by National Trust heath and woodland.
