Cheshire wouldn’t be Cheshire without a bit of bling, but in certain postcodes the ostentatious display of wealth is just too dazzling. That’s why we like Knutsford so much. There’s plenty of money: the designer shoe and clothes shops on its twin(set) high streets are testament to that, and there’s a Land Rover showroom. But what sets this place apart from its neighbours in the Golden Triangle is that you can leave the house without full make-up and heels, or man tan and scent; and when somebody laughs, you can see their face move.
Despite being near Manchester, motorways and an airport, Knutsford still feels like the offbeat little market town immortalised as Cranford by the Victorian novelist Elizabeth Gaskell. It’s surrounded by lush fields
