Jagalur: Jagalur Assembly constituency in Karnataka's Davangere district was won by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2018 election. BJP's SV Ramachandra won the seat by securing 0ver 53 per cent of votes against Congress's SP Rajesh. The election for the Jagalur Assembly seat is scheduled to be held on May 10, 2023, and around 191000 voters will be exercising their political mandate. This seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.

Key Candidates for 2023 Elections in Jagalur

For the upcoming assembly election, BJP fielded its sitting MLA SV Ramachandra in Jagalur. Congress announced B Devendrappa as their candidate for the May 1o contest.
In 2013, Congress's SP Rajesh secured around 59 per cent votes from Jagalur defeating BJP's Ramachandra.

The Jagalur constituency recorded a 77.37 per cent voter turnout in the previous assembly election.
This Assembly seat comes under the Davanagere Lok Sabha constituency, which was won by the BJP in the 2019 election. GM Siddeshwara if BJP bagged the seat by securing 6,52,996 votes against Congress's HB Manjappa who got 4,83,294 votes.
Jagalur constituency comprises the parts of Jagalur Taluk, Harihar Taluk and Honnali Taluk. This area is a hilly terrain and agriculture is the main livelihood of the people in Jagalur. Major cultivations here include paddy, sugarcane, and cotton.
Jagalur town is also home to several small-scale industries, including handloom products and the production of groundnut and sesame oils.
The polls to elect members of the Karnataka Assembly are scheduled for May 10. The result will be announced on May 13.
