What to see in Castelraimondo

Nestled between valleys planted with olive groves and vineyards, the territory of Castelraimondo stretches between gentle slopes and mountains that reach up to 1,200 meters above sea level.

The panorama of the village is gentle and pleasant, characterized by the presence of the Cassero, an element also present in the town's coat of arms. It is a watchtower, about 38 meters high, which was erected in the 14th century, at a time of strong disputes with nearby villages.

Near the tower, there is also the Civic Museum dedicated to Master Ugo Bottacchiari. The museum is located inside the Town Hall and was established in the 1980s, thanks to donations of objects, memorabilia and mementos that belonged to the composer from the Marche region who was born here in 1879.

The surprises of Piazza della Repubblica, because this is where both the Cassero Tower and the Civic Museum are located, do not end there. The Municipal Theater, built in the 1920s, is also located here. In fact, in those years, it was decided to enlarge the Town Hall and build the theater inside. Today it has a horseshoe-shaped floor plan, two boxes and a balcony.

In addition, until 2016, this very square was also overlooked by the National Folk Costume Museum. A museum that wanted to tell the story of Italy, thus not just Castelraimondo, through the eyes of its inhabitants. A fascinating project, to say the least, that unfortunately was interrupted due to the earthquake a few years ago.

Surrounding the small town of Castelraimondo are countless treasures.

One of these is undoubtedly Castel Santa Maria, on the slopes of Mount Gemmo and about 500 meters above sea level. From here, the view of the surrounding area, with the eye reaching as far as Camerino and Matelica, is simply breathtaking. The hamlet is medieval in style and its center is organized in three concentric circles culminating in the main square.

Also, although temporarily closed due to the earthquake we have already mentioned, in the territory of Castelraimondo is the Lanciano Castle, surrounded by a majestic centuries-old park. The interiors of this castle are simply stunning and make it a true princely residence: paintings, decorations and precious furnishings, in fact, make it one of the most important destinations in the province of Macerata.

Finally, in the hamlet of Castelraimondo called Crispiero are the Towers of Crispiero. They are part of an articulated system of fortifications that can be found almost everywhere in this area and contribute greatly to the charm of these lands.

At the beginning of June, Castelraimondo dresses up for the festival. It is indeed the occasion for this town in the province of Macerata to bring out the Infiorata.

Since 1993, in fact, on the occasion of the feast of Corpus Christi, dozens and dozens of people devote themselves to the creation of 20 little flowered paintings totaling about 1,000 square meters.

Approximately 100,000 carnations are used to color Corso Italia, in a scene that attracts hundreds of visitors and onlookers year after year.
