Mr. Tommy Edwards Sr.
Tommy Edwards, Sr of Selma, NC entered this earth on Wednesday, August 8, 1951, to the late Robert Ernest Edwards and Blossie Mae Edwards of Selma, NC. Tommy departed his earthly life for his new beginning on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Tommy was one of twelve siblings.
Tommy attended Richard B. Harrison in Selma, NC and later furthered his education at Johnston Community College. He was a hard worker, writer and artist. Some of his jobs included Burlington Industries and GoodMark Foods, Inc (Jesse Jones).
Tommy was preceded in death by his mother and father; two siblings; Jacqueline Jones and Andrew Edwards; his grandmother Lucy Person whom he loved to visit in Raleigh, NC.
Tommy leaves great memories to his daughter, Sonya Edwards Covington (Loil) and Tommy Edwards, Jr (Jonelle) of Charlotte, NC. His grandchildren who he dearly loved Wendell Benton (Jamicia) of Fayetteville, NC, Loil Covington, III of Plainville, CT and Joshua Covington of Charlotte, NC. His beautiful granddaughter LiUnka Holmes of Houston, TX. Great-grands JaeLyn Benton, and Wendell Benton, Jr. Tommy was born into a large family with many memories that cannot be replaced and will be preserved forever in the minds of his siblings. Tommy’s amazing siblings include his six sisters Ernestine Edwards, Lucy Goode (Bennie), Diane Godwin (Alvin), Hilda Altman (Kenneth), Rosalyn Altman (Curtis), Teresa Edwards and his three brothers Ralph Edwards (Rosa), Raiford Edwards (Eva) and Robert Edwards, Jr (Grace). He leaves memories to several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing: Thurs August 31 at Walter Sanders Funeral & Cremations Chapel from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm.
Funeral Services: Friday September 1, 2023 at Howell Chapel 214 E. Preston St Selma, NC., viewing from 11:00 am until 11:30 and funeral beginning at 11:30 am.
