Deaver is a very small community in Big Horn County with a population of 178 residents and at an elevation of 4105 feet.

The town of Deaver was named for D. Clem Deaver, who was immigration commissioner for the Burlington Railroad. Its existence began in 1918, when the Bureau of Reclamation started construction work on the Frannie division of the Shoshone project: The Shoshone Project provides irrigation for approximately 107,000 acres of crops in the Big Horn Basin.
