North Yorkshire > Craven District Council

Craven is within the County of North Yorkshire, situated to the south of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and including part of the Forest of Bowland AONB, with much of the remaining countryside also of high landscape quality. The district lies at the head of the River Aire valley and also extends into the Southern Pennines. The main urban centre is Skipton. Craven is part of Leeds City Region.

Craven DC is currently preparing a new Local Plan for the area outside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The draft plan will be available for consultation from the end of March 2016. The plan includes policies on landscape, biodiversity, green infrastructure amongst others and will designate Local Green Spaces.
