Ancient Corinth. Peloponnese. Greece. View of part of the northwest stoa of the Agora which was lined with shops and had a large central shop of which the stone vault remains intact. In the background is the majestic Doric Temple of Apollo with its seven remaining upright columns. Ancient Corinth was one of the most influential Greek city states in antiquity. The Romans razed the city in 146 BC; it was then rebuilt under Julius Caesar as a Roman city and prospered as the regions capital.
